Kim Banks “Mama2Up” is the mother of 3 sons, Jamal, Nyle and Samaad. A trucking company owner by trade, Kim Banks has dedicated her life to philanthropy after losing Samaad to gun violence in Somerset, NJ. Kim opened the doors to One Family One Fight in 2020 to not only honor Samaad, but to turn a negative into a positive by giving back with mentorship programs, resources and a scholarship fund to the youth in the same community Samaad grew up in. In 2014 she moved her family to Somerset from North Jersey to give them a better life and school system. Unfortunately, Samaad lost his life on December 31, 2019, 1 year after graduating high school.
“Samaad taught me a lot in his life and death. One of the most important things was the dash between your sunrise and sunset. It’s important to live every day and be a blessing to others when you can. Samaad inspired, motivated and touched people in his 19 years. He was loved by many. Samaad’s life meant so much to a lot of people. He was no celebrity but in silence he touched many lives young and old. He was special. He made his dash, his legacy about inspiring, motivating and loving others. His presence, his hugs, his entire life was about LOVE. The LOVE he showed everyone who came into contact with him and the LOVE we all share with each other in his death.
Death is never easy, but burying a child is the worst pain a parent can experience. My healing journey continues moment by moment by living in the honor of my son, my baby, my heart Samaad Z Frazier.
