About Us

One Family One Fight is more than a nonprofit, it’s a movement born from pain, rooted in purpose, and driven by the unwavering belief that healing and hope can rise from tragedy.

Founded in honor of Samaad Z. Frazier, a beloved young man whose life was stolen by gun violence on December 31, 2019, our organization was created to transform grief into action. What began as a mother’s mission to keep her son’s memory alive has grown into a powerful, trauma-informed community organization dedicated to healing families, empowering youth, and uniting communities across New Jersey and beyond.

Our Mission

To provide hope, support, and healing for families impacted by gun violence and trauma. Through advocacy, mentorship, and empowerment, we create safe spaces to grieve, grow, and reclaim power together.

Our Vision

A world where every young person is valued, every grieving family is supported, and every community has the tools to heal and rise.

Who We Serve

We currently serve youth and families across Somerset and Middlesex Counties, with plans to expand across New Jersey. Our programs are especially impactful in:

  • Middle & High Schools
  • Youth Centers
  • Group Homes
  • Community-Based Organizations
  • Municipal Youth Programs
  • Reentry or Violence-Prevention Programs

Life Redirected: How I Turned Pain Into Purpose

December 31, 2019 was like every other New Year’s Eve. I worked the night before driving my truck to deliver a load to Boston. At 7:30 that morning I spoke to my middle son Samaad on FaceTime. Little did I know that would be the last time that I would get to speak and see him. At 3:26 PM he was shot and killed on Churchill Avenue in Somerset, New Jersey. Life redirected. How could this happen to me? I moved my family from Newark/Hillside New Jersey to get away from guns, gangs, drugs, and violence. Life redirected. Out of the pain of losing Samaad to gun violence I turned that pain into purpose and started 0FOF to not only honor Samaad’s life and legacy but to give back to the same community that Samaad lost his life in with the hopes of making a difference in someone else’s life.
