Yes I did get all of that. But I poured my time, my money, my heart and soul into my child and all I got after 19 years is a casket…
A lifeless body buried in the ground way before his time…
With all of the money I spent on trainings, gear, workouts, games, travel expenses, AAU team fees, school clothes, vacations and sneakers and all I got was for Samaad’s life to be taken in 19 short years!?
Samaad never got a chance to live up to his potential…
Samaad never got a chance to play basketball beyond high school…
Samaad never got a chance to have a child or get married…
Samaad never got a chance to experience life as an adult…
Samaad never got a chance to graduate college and start a career…
Most importantly, Samaad never got the chance to beat his depression and get back in the gym after reaching out to his mentor and trainer Coach Taylor!
Reality is, after all that I’ve invested in my son all I got was a casket!
A son who was ambushed and gunned down while unarmed!
A son who lost his life at the hands of 5 young men who decided that using a gun was the best way to handle their anger instead of conflict resolution!
A son who was cut short of a chance to live a life until 80 years old!
A son who’s life that meant something to everyone else but nothing to those who took his life…
